Non-Musical history for today: I have two: 1973 – The last United States combat soldiers left South Vietnam. Finally, our boys were leaving. And, in 1984, The Baltimore Colts loaded its possessions onto fifteen Mayflower moving trucks in the early morning hours and transfer its operations to Indianapolis. The Maryland General Assembly was in the middle of approving a law (and the governor was waiting to sign it) to take possession of the Colts via eminent domain. Robert Irsay (then owner of the Colts) had been in talks with both Phoenix and Indianapolis. The mayor of Indy was friends with John B Smith, who owned Mayflower Van Lines and they sent the trucks and started moving by 10 pm. The next morning, by the time the MGA had passed the law, the Colts were already gone. Ta ta Baltimore.
