Non-musical history for today: 1509 – Henry VIII of England married Catherine of Aragon. Yep. She was the OG, the original, the one that started it all, the first, numero uno! The marriage was eventually annulled in 1533 after Hank assumed dominion over the church in England (which led to the CoE, by the way). She died of cancer three years later. Hank wanted a divorce because she wasn’t producing any male heirs, and there was no precedence for a female monarch. Her daughter, Mary, however, became the first full-fledged Queen Regnant (meaning the sovereign equivalent to a king).

Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for June 11.

Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza.
