Non-musical history for today: 1926 – Harry Houdini performed for the last time at the Garrick Theatre in Detroit. He died of peritonitis (swelling of the abdomen), possibly related to appendicitis and possibly related to punches to his abdomen he had received about a week and a half earlier. Even for the Garrick Theatre show, he had ignored his 102°+ fever and appendicitis and refused surgery to do the show. He was 52.
Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for October 24.
Recorded in the Such-N-Such Studios at Liberty Plaza.
