Ernie Shore was born in East Bend, NC, a small unincorporated town to the northwest of Winston-Salem. Until the early 2010s, the Winston-Salem Warthogs played in Ernie Shore Field. The owners sold it to Wake Forest University, and it became “Couch Field.”
