Beeswax Vinyl Daily September 24, 2023

Non-musical history for today: 1906 – U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt proclaimed Devils Tower in Wyoming as the nation’s first National Monument. That was awesome, but it is probably better known as the mountain in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Had it just been the first or second kind? Maybe things would have been different with “Bear Lodge,” as it is known by the Lakota. Really, if you go by the real “kinds” this was an encounter of the fifth kind. I’ll leave it at that as, I don’t want to give spoilers to movie plots, no matter how old the film.

Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for September 24.

Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza.
