Beeswax Vinyl Daily February 29, 2024

Non-musical history for today: Because there have only been 97 February 29ths in the last 400 years, I will include a couple of things for today.

1504 – Christopher Columbus used his knowledge of a lunar eclipse that night to convince Jamaican natives to provide him with supplies. Voodoo and black magic are mostly smoke and mirrors, boys and girls. Or, someone just knows of things ahead of time. Now, that doesn’t excuse the Jamaicans from being hornswoggled by Columbus. But, I think they can be forgiven. Just more evidence that Christopher Columbus was an a-hole swindler.

1712 – February 29 was followed by February 30 in Sweden, in a move to abolish the Swedish calendar for a return to the Julian calendar. I don’t and won’t have a February 30 BWVD.

Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for February 29.

Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza.
