Non-musical history for today: 1616 – Sir Walter Raleigh was freed from the Tower of London after 13 years of imprisonment. He was there after being charged with treason for his involvement in the Main Plot against Elizabeth’s successor, James I (the son of Mary Queen of Scots). To quote John Lennon, he was such a stupid git.
Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for March 20.
