Non-musical history for today: 1803 – The United States purchased the Louisiana Territory from France for $15 million, more than doubling the size of the young nation. The states that were partially created from this purchase were: Louisiana, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, Texas, Minnesota, and North Dakota. All of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Arkansas were formed from it. Even parts of Alberta and Saskatchewan were involved in this deal. A pretty fair price for that.
Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for April 30.
