Non-musical history for today: 1804 – The Lewis and Clark Expedition officially began as the Corps of Discovery departed from St. Charles, Missouri. On this two-year expedition through the Great Plains and the Rocky Mountains, the Corps encountered more than two dozen Native American tribes. Historians will note that without these tribes and the help they provided, L&C and the Corps would have probably stalled out and probably not finished its journey, arriving at Fort Clatsop and the Pacific Ocean at the mouth of the Columbia River in what is now known as Oregon.
