Non-musical history for today: 1774 – Intolerable Acts: The Quartering Act of 1774 was enacted, allowing a governor in colonial America to house British soldiers in uninhabited houses, outhouses, barns, or other buildings if suitable quarters are not provided. The Intolerable Acts were a series of five punitive laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774 after the Boston Tea Party. They were meant to punish Massachusetts for dumping tea in protest of a royal act. The acts were the Boston Port Act, the Massachusetts Government Act, the Impartial Administration of Justice Act, and the Quartering Act. Inclusive among the five, although completely separate from the other four, was the Québec Act, which took some of what is now the American Midwest for Québec. All were stupid.
