Non-musical history for today: 1903 – Since the baseball postseason starts tomorrow, the Boston Americans (now the Red Sox) played the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first game of the modern World Series. The Sox went on to win the series 5-4 in a best-of-nine series. Luckily, they have reduced that to a best-of-seven series. The Pirates led 3-1, and the Sox won the next four to win it all. I can’t stand the Red Sox, and the Pirates are my favorite baseball team.
