Non-musical history for today: 1815 – Napoleon began his exile on Saint Helena in the South Atlantic Ocean. This exile lasted the final six years of the deposed emperor’s life, beginning with his second abdication[a] at the end of the Hundred Days, after his defeat at the Battle of Waterloo. Y’all, this island is out in the middle of nowhere! It’s about halfway, probably a little less, between Angola and Namibia in Africa and Brazil in South America in the South Atlantic Ocean. An estimate of June 2025 has the island’s population at just under 4,000. Napoleon died on the island in 1821.
